I’m confused about whirlpools and spa-massage baths. What is the difference?
Traditional whirlpool systems pump water through a limited number of jets in the side of the bath. An Airbath injects pure warm air through hundreds of tiny jets which cover the base of the bath. This combines with water to massage every part of the body and makes your Airbath more hygienic and more economical to run.
I’ve seen some bad press about spa-massage baths. Should I be worried about using an Airbath?
There have been reports of a handful of cases linking the outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease to the usage of whirlpool baths. Such cases are extremely rare and none has been attributed to usage of an Airbath, whose method of operation makes it significantly more hygienic to that of a whirlpool. Whereas a whirlpool bath recirculates water, an Airbath uses air rather than water to generate the massaging bubbles. Although we recommend you clean your Airbath regularly, an innovative self-draining and blow-drying feature operates automatically at the end of every bath to prevent the build-up of harmful bacteria.
What is Thermofill?
Thermofill is a feature unique to Airbath, which provides a quieter method of filling the bath from the base, dispensing with the need for taps. Thermofill is available on a number of baths in the range – please see individual product details for more information.
What is the Warm Air Injection system?
Every model in the range is supplied as standard with the patented Airbath Warm Air Injection system, allowing all features – including on/off switching, massage speed and heat settings – to be controlled centrally.
The Warm Air Injection system works by ‘injecting’ hot water into the spa air stream as it enters the chamber in the base of the Airbath, filling every tiny bubble with warm, moist air as it percolates up around your body. Not only does the hot water humidify and warm the air, preventing the chill feeling you get in a conventional spa or whirlpool bath, but it also allows you to maintain or vary the temperature of your bathing water to suit, providing the therapeutic benefits associated with hydrotherapy and spa treatment.
With the Warm Air Injection System turned off, your Airbath will provide you with a cool, refreshing bathing experience – ideal when the weather is warm. Turn the system on and select one of the five pre-set temperature levels to enjoy a wonderfully warm bath; adjust the intensity of the variable air spa massage to relax, soothe or invigorate mind and body.
How do I choose the best model for my bathroom?
The Airbath range features 28 different models – available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Information on all the models in the range is available from the individual product factsheets, or can be reached via our ‘select model’ facility, where you can search for models according to your preferred size or shape. A number of models are available as both left- and right-hand baths.
Before making any decision, we strongly recommend you visit your local Airbath retailer, who will be able to advise you on the models available, accessories and optional extras, as well as making you aware of important system and electrical requirements.
Why can I only buy an Airbath from certain retailers?
We operate a Centres of Excellence scheme which focuses on a select number of bathroom retailers to benefit our customers. We recognise that the purchase of an Airbath is an investment in your bathroom, so it is important that you have the specialist information to make your decision. With their specialist knowledge, you can rely our hand-picked retailers to give you all the information and advice you could need to enable you to choose your perfect bath. How long will delivery and installation of my Airbath take?
As all Airbaths are handcrafted to order, there is a lead time of 3-4 weeks from receipt of your order. Actual installation should take a qualified installer only a few hours.
Do I need any special electrical requirements in my existing bathroom?
All Airbaths are supplied with a Thermo Touchtronic Massage System, allowing all basic features to be controlled centrally. Designed to deliver water at a maximum of 60oc, with a flow rate of 0.8 litres per minute minimum, this requires a mains pressure cold water supply and additional protected power supply via a Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) of 13 amps. This RCCB must be fitted on all Airbath installations in accordance with current Electrical Regulations where the electrical supply is not already protected by a satisfactory Residual Current Device (25 amp/30mA Trip). This can be supplied by Airbath at a cost of £59 if requested, or by a qualified electrician.
Post-sales
Is my Airbath guaranteed?
We offer a 12-month guarantee as standard from the date of purchase, which covers the repair or supply of Airbath components resulting from faulty materials or workmanship. However, the standard 12-month guarantee can be upgraded yearly, for a maximum of 5 years. Details of the guarantee can be found in the Warranty section of this website.
What happens if I have a problem with my Airbath?
In the unlikely event that you experience a problem with your Airbath, please contact our customer services department – on 0113 386 9140 or via service@aquabeau.com - who will be happy to help with your query. We also operate a UK mainland repair service should you require an engineer call-out, the costs of which are covered by your guarantee.
Can I use bubble bath and other such products in my Airbath?
Yes, bubble bath will not harm your Airbath in any way and will be a source of much fun for younger members of the family. However, because an Airbath by its very nature produces lots of bubbles, all products should be used sparingly.
How should I clean my Airbath?
Cleaning instructions feature in the Airbath user guide, which accompanies every model ordered. At the end of each bath, the water should always be drained with the Airbath system switched on. Whilst Airbaths are very easy to keep clean, we do strongly recommend the use of ‘Clear Spa Guard’ (available from our customer services department) once a month to clean and sterilise the parts of your bath not reached by daily maintenance. Periodically, we also recommend that you clean the bath with mild detergent or a non-abrasive cleaner. Mousses should not be used.
